Special Category Data (Religion)

If you choose to provide your religion, you must give explicit consent.

You may withdraw this consent at any time via:

Settings → Privacy → Remove my religion/faith answer.

Upon withdrawal, we remove religion from your profile, stop using it for Discover filtering or matching, and clear any saved Discover religion filter on your account. You may add religion again later if you choose.

Fees & Paid Features

Slower Dating is currently free during the Birmingham pilot. You can join, create a profile, use Discover, and chat at no charge. No subscription is required.

We do not currently charge for add-ons, subscriptions, or paid messaging.

If we introduce paid features later, we will show the price, what is included, and any renewal or cancellation terms clearly before anyone pays, and we will update these Terms and the Refund Policy beforehand.

Refund Policy

Because the live service is free during the Birmingham pilot and we are not currently taking payments, there are currently no user payments to refund.

If paid features are introduced later, refund rules for those features will be published in our Refund Policy before launch.

Behaviour & Safety Rules

To protect users, the following are prohibited:

• Sharing contact details (phone, email, social media) without mutual agreement — you may exchange contact info when both users consent
• Sharing any identifying information without consent

Other unacceptable behaviour:

• Harassment, threats, discrimination
• Explicit sexual content
• Impersonation
• Scamming or fraudulent behaviour

Breaches may result in suspension or termination.

Chats, Identity & Contact Exchange

Identity & Anonymity: Users remain anonymous within the platform unless they choose to share details. Slower Dating does not fully verify identity. Users may choose to exchange personal contact information at their own discretion.

Conversations: Conversations may continue for as long as both users wish. There is no automatic expiration tied to identity disclosure. The words you write in chat remain yours; our rights are limited to the licence in Your Content and Licence to Us above.

Chat Requests: During our early community launch, all members currently receive the same allowance: up to 10 outgoing chat requests per UTC calendar day (resets 00:00 UTC). A chat opens only when both people request each other (mutual). Requests are allowances, not guarantees.

Ending Chats: Users may end a conversation at any time. Ending a chat prevents further interaction.

Contact Exchange: Contact details are only shared if both users mutually agree to exchange them voluntarily. Do not feel pressured to share contact details or meet before you are ready.

Meeting in person: If you choose to meet someone from the platform, meet in a public place, tell someone you trust where you are going, and leave if you feel uncomfortable. Report any concerns to us at info@slowerdating.com.

We do not guarantee a chat, a date, a relationship, chemistry, or your safety when meeting offline.

Payments

We do not currently take payments through the live service.

If paid features are introduced later, payments would be processed securely through a payment provider such as Stripe. We would not store card details.

Any payment data processed by a third-party provider would be subject to that provider's own policies.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Object to processing of your data
• Data portability (receive your data in a portable format)
• Withdraw consent (e.g., for religion data) at any time

Data Retention

We retain your data for the following periods:

• Account data and messages: Until you delete your account or 24 months of inactivity
• Payment records: Only relevant if/when payments are taken. Processed and stored by the payment provider (e.g. Stripe) as required by law. We do not store full card details.
• Abuse reports and safety logs: 24 months
• System logs: Up to 12 months

When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes (e.g., payment records).

Cookies

We use essential cookies only for authentication and security. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, including but not limited to:

• Providing false information (especially regarding age)
• Violating our Behaviour & Safety Rules
• Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour
• Fraudulent activity or scamming
• Sharing contact information without mutual consent

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your data will be removed in accordance with our Data Retention policy.

Disputes & Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes may be resolved through the courts of England and Wales.
